While studies confirm that mesothelioma may develop in individuals who have never worked with asbestos, the vast majority of cases involve people who worked in locations where the substance was present. Obviously, jobsites that involved the mining or processing of asbestos, or the manufacturing of products containing it, have an extremely high rate of exposure.
